Submit for Chucklefck at Ingenuity Fest
Ingenuity Fest will be September 16, 17 & 18 this year. The music & arts festival has been growing since it’s inception in 2002, and it’s current location under the historic Detroit/Superior bridge sets it apart as one of the most unique summer festivals in the midwest. Last year’s, attendance soared to over 40,000 visitors to the 3 day event.
Chucklefck is proud to be producing the comedy programming at this years event. The overall theme of Ingenuity Fest this year is studying the way things ‘flow’. So, in a vague effort to address that, we’re going to have a live twitter feed next to the stage to encourage audience interaction and study the impact social media is having on stand up.
Another aspect of the festival, and that which you’re submitting to, will be Chucklefck Showcases.
There will be 6 Chucklefck showcases featuring 3 comics each. There are 18 showcase slots available total that you are submitting for. The comic who performs best during their showcase will be invited to the Best of the Fest closing show at Hilarities. The club has agreed to put up a host and feature week for stand outs from the festival.
There will be slots for additional comic programming (sketch, improv, podcast, etc.).
Your submission email should be sent to:
chucklefckpod@gmail.com
The Subject line should read:
Comic Submission (Your Name) for Ingenuity
Name, location, a brief bio, links to your social networking sites (facebook/twitter/tumblr), in addition to the clip you would like to be reviewed.
Please, submit a clip that’s funny from beginning to end. If you submit an 8 minute clip and you’re hilarious during the first 4 and not so much during the last 4, that will probably affect your scoring by the selection committee. So, send your best clip and good luck!
Once your email submission is sent, please pay your submission fee via brown paper tickets, you’ll receive an email response confirming both have been received.
Bela Dubby (13321 Madison Avenue) will stay open Monday because Chucklefck is awesome and it’ll be fun.
They’ll probably still gank the good sound equipment but who cares.
Let’s find a tiny grill and make some grub! I’ll bring napkins, you bring the food.
What you think?

Chucklefck at Ingenuity Fest: The feeler 9/16-9/18
So things are rolling along, submitted a preliminary budget/gameplan to Ingenuity Fest (www.ingenuitycleveland.com) for approval (the festival is still finalizing their final budget proposal so nothings confirmed yet) and got Hilarities (www.hilarities.com) on board. They’d be putting up host/feature work to award to stand outs from the festival. Discussions are also under way to hold the Best of the Fest showcase at the club.
SO, here’s the beginning schematics, once things are finalized submissions will be open but as of now:
12 hours of total programming
8 hour long comedy showcases
4 hours set aside for sketch/improv/podcast shows
The Chucklefck showcases will be hour long blocks hosted by Jim Tews (www.jimtews.com) & myself (http://ramonrivas.bandcamp.com/)
3 comics will do 8-10 minutes, another comic will close out the block doing 15
One of the three comics from each show will be invited to the Best of the Fest show
One of the headlining comics from each day of shows will be invited to the Best of Fest show
There will be 8 of those types of shows
So there will be 24 performer slots
-8 will be accepted from the midwest
-8 will be accepted from the midatlantic
-8 will be accepted from Ohio
Additional entrants may be accepted depending how the scheduling shakes out.
I’m thinking, there will be a $15 submission fee to be considered for host work and $25 for feature.
As things roll along and get confirmed, I’ll be working to get additional sponsors to add more to the prize packages, etc.
Yelp Cleveland is excited and I’m discussing sponsorship with them and as things get confirmed, our sponsorships should grow. Reached out to Doug Benson, Scott Aukerman and other podcasters to see about getting a live podcast recording of one of them at the festival.
EVERYTHINGS UP IN THE AIR, shout out to Dikembe
