Excerpt:
There’s been a lot of dialogue recently regarding stand up comedy classes. They’ve been around for a while (I have an interview with Johnny Carson where he references them doing them back in the 30’s & 40’s, so they’re not a new phenomena) but recently a stir has been caused.
Doug Stanhope wrote a blistering review of the Stand Up Comedy Bootcamp, by Kyle Cease & Louie Anderson. I read it back when he wrote it in July, but I didn’t watch the video that caused it or did any further research, I just laughed when reading it & moved on.
Then, the podcast Comedy & Everything Else had a two part episode in which Jimmy Dore interviews Kyle Cease. Then, a few episodes later Todd Glass returned to the show & went on a rant arguing against what had happened during the Kyle Cease interview.
So, here’s my first hand experience with a comedy class & a second hand experience of someone that went to one of the first of the Stand Up Comedy Bootcamps.
